Privacy Policy

This is an English version for your convenience. The German privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung) is the binding version.

In short

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Fonts and images are served from this website’s own server, nothing is loaded from Google or advertising services. Visitor statistics and the contact form run through Seite bereit, which processes data on my behalf. The OpenStreetMap map only loads when you click on it.

Hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, and delivered from a data centre in Frankfurt am Main. When you visit, Vercel processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time, page requested and browser, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement with Vercel is in place; transfers to the USA are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Seite bereit runs the website for me as a processor.

Visitor statistics

To understand which pages are read, I count visits without cookies and without storing anything on your device. Recorded are the page visited, the website you came from (address only), campaign details in the address, the page title, the device type (roughly), the country and approximate location (derived from the internet connection), which kind of link was clicked (phone, email, WhatsApp, directions, download or another website, without numbers or addresses) and whether a form was started (without its content). Your IP address and browser identifier are only processed briefly in memory to form a value that changes daily and cannot be reversed, and are not stored. Recognising you beyond the day or across other websites is not possible. Individual visits are deleted after 30 days, after that only daily totals remain. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, my legitimate interest is privacy-friendly audience measurement. Seite bereit runs the measurement as a processor via Vercel, the data is stored in a database in the EU. You can object at any time (Art. 21 GDPR).

Contact form

When you write to me through the contact form, your name, email address and message go to the form service of Seite bereit, which works for me as a processor. The message is sent to me by email and stored encrypted in a database in Frankfurt am Main. You usually receive a confirmation at your email address. Emails are sent via Postmark (ActiveCampaign, LLC, USA); transfers to the USA are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. To prevent abuse, the service checks every message automatically for typical spam signs such as links, HTML code or advertising terms. Suspicious messages are also stored encrypted but not forwarded and get no confirmation; unless I release them, they are deleted after 30 days (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). I only use your details to answer your message (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, for general questions (f)). Stored details are deleted after one year at the latest.

Map

The street map on the contact page is an image from my own server, made from OpenStreetMap data (© OpenStreetMap contributors). Viewing it sends no data to OpenStreetMap. Only when you click “Move map” is the OpenStreetMap map (OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom) loaded and your IP address sent to OpenStreetMap. An EU adequacy decision exists for the United Kingdom. Legal basis is your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
